They are a fine group of young people, who set one year apart to serve God with their gifts. They travel Germany in a bus and invite people in for a cup of tea or coffee and talk about God and their personal relationship with Jesus. It is a great opportunity to reach young people where they are at concerts, in shopping streets, etc …

Manuela has been working from home for two days now, because she can’t get to work without the bus. She enjoys the extra sleep she gets that way.

This morning the neighbors had to help push our little Peugot car out of the parking spot where it got stuck, so that Danny could drive to work. It’s good to get to know the neighbors better that way.

We truely enjoy the snow! It has not snowed that much here in almost 30 years! It is just amazing!

The staff weekend was truely enriching and God helped us to grow closer as a team.

It was great to meet new people and prepare ourselves for the teens who will come from all over Germany and Israel.

At both camps multiple sports are offered to the aspiring athletes of all different levels.

I coached basketball and led small group bible studies both weeks.

We had about 150 youth and almost 50 kids come to improve their athletic abilities and learn more about God.

This year nearly half of all the participants responded to the gospel by accepting Jesus Christ as their saviour.

The biggest change for SRS was the purchase of a sport hotel, where we will be able to have our offices and run our many of our programs.

We had the official opening in October, although parts of the building are still under construction. With this new facility we have many new opportunities and chances for the ministry to grow.

After 10 hours in the plane, we were both really happy to finally arrive in Vancouver.

Highlights so far have included: seeing the mountains and the ocean; seeing Spandy Andy dancing to Michael Jackson on Robson Street (sorry no picture); hanging out with Susan (holsby student); going to the Granville Island Market; and playing disc golf with the locals at Queen E Park and then being driven home by disc golfer Larry (who even stopped so we could get some groceries).

We are going to go to church with Susan this morning and then there is a little holsby reunion this afternoon.  We will write more soon.

While we were there we stayed with our friends from bible school, Arne and Eva, who live in Berlin.  It was really great to be able to see them again and to catch up with each other.  God really blessed our time there with them.

The tournament started out really well for me.  After shooting a 5 under, 52, I was alone in second place going into the second round, three shots behind the leader.  Unfortunately, I didn’t throw as well in the second round and dropped back to 10th place after a 5 over, 62. 

Arne gave us a little tour of Berlin on the Saturday night.  I really wanted to see the old wall and to get an idea of what it was like when the city was divided into two.  We also saw the parliament buildings and a huge monument dedicated to the Jewish people who were killed in the second world war.  A highlight for me was going to Alexander Platz, where Jason Bourne was in The Bourne Supremacy. 

On Sunday, I regained my form and managed to finish the tournament at 3 under par and in a tie for 8th place in the open division - my best finish in Germany so far.

It was a great trip and I hope that we can repeat it again next year.
